Drift

Drift

A Poem by Andy Ruffett
"

This poem is dedicated to my papou who passed away in 2006.

"

I see you papou, lying in your bed

Eyes shut, comfortable, as the pillow rests your head

The sadness is gone and peace is finally here

Soon you will be with the one you love so dear

We all watch with tearful hearts

But we know why we cry

We loved you so very much

And we hate to say goodbye

We watch as God’s hand lifts you to the sky

Through the passing light, the oblivion of time

As you sail, he whispers directly in your ear,

“On the other side you’ll find her standing there.”

Shouldn't "loved" be "love"? And why is there the word "all"? Isn't it only one person? Sorry, that line seems odd to me.

But I really love the poem. You described those feelings dead on.
