Howling At Lampposts

A million mouths aglow. Burnt

paper and nicotine,

ember constellations falling

on the rainsoaked ground.

Wolverines and vampires

in neon moonlight.

Eternal penultimates

of last angry men

just fighting for identity

in puddle reflections.

The stars look down

in weary contempt.

Silver bullets and wooden stakes;

hands on a clock.

Ticking. Countdown

to the end of the line,
