Blind Date

Blind Date

A Poem by Angelreads

You linger in an empty void of time

Wandering, wasting, searching for a cause

Life long altered at the drop of a dime

They never question it, it never gives them pause

You realized the truth in the pain and lies

You solved the puzzle and answered the test

But who will save you from your own demise

How can you beat her, always at her best

I wish I could help, but I don’t know how

You are drowning, drowning because you’re lost

It became too much, you can’t go back now

You weren’t prepared you didn’t know the cost

I’m sorry my love, it will get better

Life’s poison, I wish you never met her

Your use of rhyme here is really strong, it's not easy to keep a rhyme sequence going without it feeling forced and you achieve it with aplomb! Particularly the changing of the scheme for the last couplet, as it really helps drive home the theme of the poem. I would say I think the piece would benefit from a bit of specific detail, just because it might make it a bit easier to relate to. A powerful, evocative piece of writing!
