A Poem by ABitBrokenPoetry

remember when summer lasted for decades
and all the colors were vivid & dazzling
when everyone& everything was beautiful?
now winter has settled comfortably between us
cold enough to watch my breath
turn to wispy white fog
with each wasted word spoken
and the world outside the window
remains a dull ash gray
it feels like centuries ago that we enjoyed each other's company
& every second in your presence now
i realize i've been longing for a home
that doesn't exist any longer
& forcing a bond that was silently severed long ago

i suppose it's natural though
it's been said a thousand times in a thousand ways
that everything dies
and everything dies alone.
