Nocturne

Nocturne

A Poem by Anne Martin
"

an ode to a dying day

"

Pearls of light
floating at sunset
ring in sweet shades
of turquoise spirits
nothing lost

underneath
the sailors' moon
a fine halo
silver shadows
in shimmering strings

the lake in stillness
glistens in starry reflection
portending the morrow's
grumbling clouds
of passing gloom

amber embers
of a dying fire
extinguished
a rustic dinner
consumed

dancing in shadows
nighttime wanderers
toast the far off morn
while the dying day
sings a doleful tune

Beautiful use of words dear Anna. The words gentle, allowing the reader to find the beautiful places in your words and your thoughts. Hell my friend. I hope you are doing well, be careful and be safe my friend.

Finely laid, visual, calm - a sighing breath of fresh air in spite of the wear of the day.
Beautifully formed stanza, tempted to say, 'a gift of words':

'amber embers
of a dying fire
extinguished
a rustic dinner
consumed'

Poetically described. The images and the mood are nicely conveyed in this piece.
