A Poem by Inkcognito

How do we know if we really know someone?

What would you do
if the secrets stored
in the vaults of my

burdened mind
were to be shifted

shovelled onto

your shoulders

What would you do
if the burning tears

of my sorrowful soul
were to burst forth

from fragile dams
to drown you

What would you do
if the daunting

memories that are

haunting my
once happy heart
were to escape
hunt you down

What would you do
if my concrete
walls were to

crumble, tumble

down to the ground
leaving me vulnerable

Would you turn away
avert your eyes
wave me goodbye
would you leave me
to weather
the elements
on my own

How will I know
if you

won’t let me know you?

a beautifully satifying write, great work, i love it, if only people knew right

We have to chose the people we confide in or share our most deepest pain with carefully as we don't know if they will accept us after hearing our words of truthful pain. Will the illusion they have of us vanish and wither away because they now see us in a different light than before we told them.

the weight of a life is sometimes overbearing. most people can barely carry the weight of their own life, let alone someone else's. all the psychosis and secrets; we're driving ourselves mad; "overburdened." we think we're crazy, so how can we share that craziness with someone else! beautiful write!
