I am a gambler (On Tap #1)

I am a gambler (On Tap #1)

A Poem by Inkcognito
"

Hair of the Dog Group challenge: Tap 1

"

I am not a writer
nor a poet
or an artist
I am merely a
lost soul
gambling with
words
stories
sentences
mere scribbles
on sheets of paper

Sometimes
the gamble pays off
rendering me rich with joy
pride and satisfaction
sometimes it does not
and I remain feeling lost
disappointed and thoroughly
cheated

An addiction to the gamble with words...? Does that even count?

NOPE.... doesn't count. You put too much hard work into your writings for us to consider it gambling. What you do deserves it's reward. Rewards from gambling happen randomly. Yours, my dear, is a talent.

I think thats a great twist on the addiction theme, and it worked well, for dont we all gamble with words, cast them down like a fisherman throws his net, hoping for a great catch.

You just need to gamble right :) ... which mostly you do !

i get this... just putting "it" out there, wondering how the universe will respond, or if the universe will even notice, a test of personal force... and connections (?). very well said.

Absolutely! Gambling is an addiction too! This is great work...I'd tell you a secret if you promised not to tell...but I know how much of a writer you are and everyone would know in no time...ok...I'll tell you, gosh I couldn't hold back forever!!! I feel so much this way so much of the time. I feel like I'm no good, amatureish, and so underdeveloped that I might as well just be pulling words from a hat and putting them on paper.

Here's to keeping the winning streak up! Now put this in the contest and order up a drink with Mabel!

your a Poet , me'thinks you choose your words a little more carefully than picking them from a hat .. and as for lost souls , well ..
