A Soul is Seeking

A Soul is Seeking

A Poem by Joseph Mulpeter

A soul is seeking

For another to meet

Unaware of the danger

it will find on the street

Alone in the world

Without a soul near by

Only these leaves

That fall from the sky

Autumn is here

With its colours and hue

Reminding this soul

That winter is due

The cold and the rain

Will begin to pour

What will you do

If the soul knocks on your door

Run and hide and pretend you’re not in

Or open the door and invite it in

A soul is seeking

for a better life

to not go to sleep

 under the starry night

you pass it every day

whilst you rush on by

walking out of its way

to avoid looking eye to eye

it doesn’t want much

just some food and a home

to not feel unwanted or alone

this world we live in

with no moment to spare

next time you walk by

look around I’ll be there

I reread this poem today and it hit me in a completely different way than before...I love it even more now...I really feel the longing of the soul that just wants to belong wants to be cared for and about...and I especially love the vulnerable quality of this piece and I was so touched by the last line "next time you walk by look around I'll be there"......... beautiful write ... bravo again

This is very powerful. The homeless souls left freezing on the streets need help - we all need to open our eyes and our hearts. Thanks for your important message here!
