Time To Say Goodbye

Time To Say Goodbye

A Poem by Joseph Mulpeter

There was a time
When all was well
When I could have sworn
My heart had fell

But going back, to those times
Is nothing but pain
Now I realise
I thought i was loved
And I believe him to be true
but this time is different
This time, I'm with you

Or is it the same?
Same ending as the last
Will I lay broken?
Like a scene from my past

But truth is, We don't know
Until we take that chance
To let ourselves be loved
And entwined in romance

Like butterflies when they hatch
Dispersed into the sky
Are me and you a match?
Or is it time to say goodbye?

It's nice to see a poem that reflects the reality of finding a new love. The uncertainty, and hope that the leap of faith taken was not in vain. Fighting the memories from one's past that plant seeds of doubt in the mind. It's easy to put on rose-tinted glasses at the start of a new relationship, but this piece reflects the fear of the unknown and the hope that fuels us to search for a meaningful, lasting relationship.

True > That's Life - as they say
Then one day when you don't expect you find a friend who sticks by you - Off you go to meet the world together - Let others join us and flutter away know you will be constant by me

My favorite line! The unknown is scary and this shows hope and fear so lovely.

aw thanks! i'm really glad you liked it :)
This is one of the most uplifting & realistic messages I've read about any kind of heartbreak theme. So many times such messages sound too whiny or too much like a pep talk, for my liking. But in this case, you touch on the painful parts with plenty of authentic questioning, while also giving ample time to turn to a more positive direction to finish your message. There will always be painful chapters but we can't let them define us. You've delivered this by showing instead of telling (first rule of good writing) . . . Fondly, Margie
