High Hopes

High Hopes

A Poem by name

These feelings are close to unbearable,
nothing is comparable, downright terrible,
I almost gave up, but it was one thing,
Thank God I kept my promise ring,

All this pain I pass off as jokes,
cause honestly I got nothing but high hopes,
high hopes for the next day,
like the quarterback, I got high hopes for the next play,

I remember back when I was 13,
I hated girls, I just wanted to be mean,
now I just wish they would talk to me,
bringing back all the memories,

I came to tell you, from me to you
here's what you need to do,
untie the nooses from these ropes
and keep your high hopes,

Remember how, when we were young
We just wanted to have fun,
now we all for publicity,
instead of, pride, fun, love, simplicity,
we need authenticity,
not hate based on ethnicity,

You see hate is a slippery slope,
but it's okay if we keep our high hopes.
