Victims of the circumstances

Victims of the circumstances

A Poem by CA Anurag Sharma
"

We think that we control everything, but do we?

"
Confined in the four walls of the hospital,
Broken feet, unable to walk,
As I look into my inability to walk without support,
I feel empty in the throng,
There are cries, there is blood,
The life has become useless and dull,
I miss the fresh air,
I miss walking on my legs,
Waiting for the surgery which will decide my future,
Whether I will be able to walk properly again,
I cry, I yell,
This dependency and loosing my earnings,
This insecurity and wait for the things to get better,
Confined in the four walls wanting to move out,
Never thought that life would be like that,
Once a free bird,
Now caught in the net,
Man doesnt control everything,
Its something else,
We all have to surrender at times,
And let the things be as they are,
I cry, I yell,
But I know I cant do anything else,
I will have to go through this torture,
I will have to go through this mess,
As I see the time every second,
Waiting for my surgery which is inevitable,
The recovery will start then,
No friends, all things are not in our hands,
We are the victims of circumstances,
We are the puppets in someone else's hands,
As both physical and mental pain grow,
As my patience is tested to the core,
I feel helpless, I feel caught in the mess,
I was happy before,
Inability to walk, being dependent on others,
Is the worst thing through which one goes,
Whats in the future, no one knows,
As I sit here confined to my bed,
I just want to move out, I dont want to rest,
But bowing my head down to the power that controls,
I just wish that things happen fast,
And I should be able to walk again,
This dependency is killing me,
As I surrender in front of my fate.

Loss of independence comes hard. Your words convey well the frustration and fear of that predicament. Waiting for an operation to see if you will walk again. Much to contemplate. Much for the mind to mess with. You created well the feeling of being trapped by circumstance. All good wishes.

So true and well conveyed. The message is loud and clear. We need that support in many cases and situations in life. You are wise.
