Forgotten and Forgetting

Forgotten and Forgetting

A Poem by Apebble

I’m guarded, conceited,

Twisted and torn.

I’m breaking, shaking,

Callous and cold.

I tempt and torture,

Desecrate and destroy.

I control and press,

Manipulate and master.

I’m surrounded, abandoned,

Hated and adored.

I’m quiet, amused,

Confident and confused.

No wonder no one listens.

The echoes don’t return,

When I tear down

The caves that we once called home.

I hate these bleeding hands,

This silver tongue I can’t sell.

The mind who no longer wanders,

And the life I cannot own.

I wish upon these stars,

Pray to God and gods,

That I might rebuild,

The castles of glass I destroyed.

I’m lost, not found.

Forgotten and forgetting.
