Red Rover

Red Rover

A Poem by Aphinion
"

I have no explanation for this except that I'm a little concerned with myself. Only a little though.

"
Red rover red rover, send your s**t over
I got my a*s kicked on the 6th of October
I went to the drop but the drop was laid bare
I looked for your s**t but it just wasn't there

Red rover red rover, this s**t won't blow over
I needed this gig for a f*****g bulldozer
To kick down the walls of my long lost life
And remember strife and the knife and the fife

And the tall looming wall
I remember all

Just kidding I don't

You say that you'll help me
I know that you won't

You're running from stops and leaving them bare
I know that you're desperate but don't really care
It's your a*s or mine only one can I spare
Not that I'd save you if all means were there

But for now they're not so I'll blame it on that
Your fate's sealed by chance, or a gun and a bat

But I didn't swing it so that's not on me
You could've done better but now they're set free

They got you first and the rest follow after
The tide's turning like dominos
Falling faster and faster

Everyone runs but no one will live
You can hide you can dodge but still they won't give

You won't get one more chance
Mercy's gone home
Darkness will eat up your flesh and your bone
Your guts and your veins and your nerves will be fried
But yay good for you! At least you tried!
Not that it helped: you were screwed from the start
But let's not divulge the truth to that part
This whole droning story is wearing out long
It's tides have ebbed and swayed and grown weak to strong
Fading in
Blacking out
Dropping down lower
Over and over and over and over
Rebounding up and off and out
Keep on running and dodging
Ignore truth, pain, and doubt
Tell yourself blindly that efforts are met
With good fast results
You'll deserve what you get
Be it diamonds and rubies
Or gold, silver, platinum
People and places
Shining blank faces
Glazed over eyes
Glassy wet stares
Gaping wide mouths
From which warning blares:

"Do not enter the dark of the night
The fear that you feel is painfully right
It'll grab you and steal you and take all that's true
Fight all you want: there's nothing you can do
To save yourself from the pull of the black
Once you fall under
You never come back"
