Dreams and The Truth

Dreams and The Truth

A Poem by Emily Donovan

When I look outside I see freedom,

I see myself soaring through the clouds,

walking barefoot on their floating softness.

I see sunshine and rainbows,

Butterflies and fairies,

Happiness and love.

When I turn from my window,

I see the truth, the bitter reality,

Trudging through the pain and trying to hide.

I see dark corners and shadows,

Crows and unkind friends,

Sadness and hate.
