An all-time favorite quote: "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." (Thoreau) -- and your poem boosts this idea to a more artful delivery. I believe there are far more people living this way than most people can stand to acknowledge. Love how you acknowledge it (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
this walking corpse or one of its brethren, keeps designating this as a malicious site, what with walking corpses doing what walking corpses' do
perhaps it is feeling maligned??
just a guess
Yes exactly- a Dead Man Walking... You deliver this indictment with flair and passion. Your lines are profound. When life has no meaning, evil triumphs. Nicely written.
Imagine a life of loneliness, without love, where the only conversation takes place in the mind, would drive you crazy. We need to be needed , to be able to express ourselves in whatever way deemed right otherwise we would become your words.
Good morning, enjoyed the read :))
Years ago. I volunteered for three President Clinton, food, shelter and medicine mission. I went to Africa. Dead bodies who died from starvation and sickness. They had no I.D. We dig a large hole. We collected the dead bodies and we went house to house. After awhile, we had to forget. Most were children, women and old people. We had mass graves and we(Soldiers) pray they found a kinder place. Still today. Hunger and sickness killed so many in our world. I dislike our leaders in the USA. They smile and tell us. Only 600 dead from the coronavirus. Our new world, death is okay to the people who are safe. Powerful words shared my friend. Made me think tonight.

Your words were very good my friend and you are welcome.
Purposeless life feels cold, rightly said. We need to invent ourselves again and again, so that we can stick to the right meaning of life, otherwise no difference with a dead body. Nice poem

We all need a purpose in life. People or a creative passion. If we are lucky, we get both. Without either, the journey would be painful and meaningless. Nice little piece of brevity.
