The Twilight Walker

The Twilight Walker

A Poem by ~Sarah~ Idríel The Fair
"

(As I am)

"

A sunless winter day

I run, I rush

into

the darkest night

lonely and hungry

and this

strange feeling

in the chest

tracks in the snow

no one can find me

As I am

the Shadow Walker

     I run

as fast I can

   you cannot

escape from me

two pair of traces  in the snow

until there's only one

     who runs

          and

only one pair of paw traces

in the cold snow

Is it right?

I look at the moon

through the eyes

   of the wolf

I howl, I howl !

I am lonely and this

strange feeling in

my chest

My heart beats

as my legs feel weary

As I am

the wolf

and

the walker in

the shadows

I hunt and I am hunted

 no one wants me

  no one cares about me

As I am

the wolf

and

I walk in the twilight

Is getting cold here

again I stand alone

watching the moon

My past, I left behind

 everything I am

  (I’ve been) created to kill

beast of prey

  why I have to?

 My thoughts are gloomy

 there is no escape

my grizzled wolf fur

 my eyes dark and cold

  my jaw silver gray

I hunt and I am hunted

 no one wants me

  no memories left

  no one cares about me

As I am

the wolf

and

I walk in the twilight

beast of prey

why I have to?

I love the wolves. I have a 180 acres of Ojibwa Native land in my name. Only wolves and bears on the land forever. I enjoyed the tale. The mystery of the wild. Leave us with great myth and tale. I liked the question at the ending. Thank you Sarah for sharing the excellent poetry.
