Shine With Me

Shine With Me

A Poem by Ryan Z. Dawson
"

You can hear this song here:

"
To the silver flush of dusk
She ascends
Burning brilliant in my firmament
My beryl ember

And with whispers amorous
She reveals
How she longs to walk among the fragile
As one of them

And my soul begins to swell
"Aren't you happy as you are?
They don't love your kind down there
They will break your virgin heart
And that pain is bottomless
Stay and shine with me, my star"

While I slept she fled the sky
Robed in skin
As a girl she fell in love
With an ignoble mortal

He abandoned her.  At last,
In despair,
She called out to be subsumed again
To my protection

And my soul began to swell
"Aren't you happy as you are?
They can't love our kind down there
They will always break your heart
I will hold you endlessly
Return and shine with me my star"

They will break your virgin heart
And that pain is bottomless

I loved this part, this is amazing and so is the flow.
So very nicely written.
