Waterfalls and Wildflowers

Waterfalls and Wildflowers

A Poem by Ashira Macy

As we sailed away,

Tides melding bronze

With vivacious greens

And calm blue hues,

Spectacles overtook senses.

Water came crashing down

The rocky slopes

In a liquid avalanche

Of droplets painted ivory, prisms

Reserved for dreamers like you.

We passed through

The downward stream,

The past hitting us like bricks

And soaking us

Through to our memories.

You just laughed -

A little water never hurt anyone.

And I reached out

To the side of the cavern,

Plucking that golden wildflower

Tucking it behind your ear.

I smiled as you danced,

Splashing in the puddles,

And singing in the rain

Of childhood innocence.

Author's Note

Ashira Macy
First poem I have written in a while, I have been having terrible writer's block as of late, so it may not be up to par. I tried to write this from a different point of view than my own, a father's perspective, so that is a new venture for me.

A fascinating read indeed as if venturing into an oceanic painting while the artist's world is slowly brought to realistic life. You have captured the imagination of a child and preserved it in this poem literally whisking the reader away ever so gently into that present place. I envisioned waterfalls, fountains of youth, and colorful rain. One of my favorite reads in the past few days.

And this managed to escape my poetical radar I apologize. Plus I just saw some prose which needs reading your prose is always good, damn prose, enough of that..... Ok I got pulled in by this writing. The way you reached in and managed to create a scene from days gone by was so easy to imagine for a moment I had my own story going on. The playfullness and aspects of life were no worries seemingly about. All this while you are telling us that we are indeed going on a journey on a downward stream. And the magical description at the beggining it felt as if painted by words.

Great stuff.

Thankyou

Thank you Rita, I am grateful that it didn't take me longer. =)
I think you captured the view point perfectly. It was as if looking down at a toddler watching her experience life for the first time. Very graceful tale you have spun. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your lovely interpretation Tony, I am glad you enjoyed it.
My writer's block usually takes a while for me to shake off. It's like a load of laundry that you know you have to do, and yet until it gets done, it just sits there and stares at you! I love the feel of this, the title you gave it, and the ambiance of it. Your writing is always top-notch, Ashira!
