Day of Vengeance

Day of Vengeance

A Poem by Morgan Ashire
"

Lyric for my old band, Godsendeath. Could also be classified as "Supernatural/Occult," or "Religious."

"

Once the skies part,

None are held back.

All are witness to this seige.

War clad riders,

Draped in sack cloth,

Bringing heroes to their knees.

-In numbers by the thousands, they come.-

Fall on your knees and pray.

Where is your god today?

Nothing remains for you.

You can't run.

Stare down death,

This day is mine.

No intention ill defined.

Prophets war, erupts, upon the bloodstained soil.

Fighting hatred, we breed a new destruction.

Seething hatred turns,

To blackened and bloody burns.

Hope's just a memory.

Here you die.

You're not saved,

Your place denied,

The rights of your soul are defied.

Martyred in vain, take your death from my hand.

Vengeance is vanquished when the lights leave your eyes.

Martyred. Tortured. Beaten. Revenge.

Day of a reckoning.

Day of awakening.

Day of a beginning.

Prelude to death.

Day of a massacre.

Day of a messenger.

Day of new history.

Prophecy fulfilled.

A powerful dark lyrical piece with a great apocalptic view and message therein

Some say the end is to be on 12~21-2012 ~ Which would be a Dark December of all time

Superb Pen~THanks for sharing in the contest~Fran Marie

Great apocalyptic message encapsulated creatively in strong punchy lyrical style. I can only imagine the type of musical genre your accompanying manuscript is composed. Judging by your choice of music on play list.com, I would say .. Heavy stuff!

Nice job, my friend!

Awesome. Love the words you used and images of the "Last Day" are vivid. Question as to what religious perspective is the poem taking a stand at?

Wow, someone who can actually write lyrics. Now THIS is what I aim for, but whenever I make the attempt, mine sound like a tribute to all that is EMO. Please send me a how-to pamphelete, teehee.

My eyes burn a bit,
I swear I did not blink once while reading this write..

""Prophets war, erupts, upon the bloodstained soil.
Fighting hatred, we breed a new destruction.""

- this reminds me of numerous happenings...
I will not get into them, for some are merely of this world,
of this society...and others..well.. - memories come to mind.

Great write,
I... liked the concept.
