This is... Goodbye

The hardships of leaving

I never meant to hurt you,

To let you down in any way.

Even just to see you now,

With my path leading astray.

I cry inside 

Because I know;

I know how much

The hurt can grow.

I hope your pain

Subsides with time,

But I must leave

To commit this crime.

If what I’ve done is critical,

And hurts them all some way;

Let them know I’m sorry,

But I’ll be back again one day.

You’ll do fine without me.

I know it to be true.

But if one is missing me,

A call will certainly do.

This is my goodbye poem,

Because I’ll miss you so.

Please don’t ever forget me,

Wherever I may go.

This is truly lovely. "I hope your pain/subsides with time" really popped out at me. The pain that people start to feel can't just go away, but heal as time goes on and they live their life. You express that in those two lines. The second stanza is also very well written. The last two lines of the second stanza also popped out. You tell the readers you feel these emotions too. Makes everything more real. I like this poem very much. Bravo!
