The last Dragon

The last Dragon

A Poem by Ashley Armstrong

I saw a dragon the other day.
He looked at me in a funny way.
We talked for a while about magic.
Then he told me something tragic.
“I am the last of my kind.” he said.
This news filled me with dread.
A week has passed since our talk.
And today when I was taking a walk,
I saw my dear dragon friend
But, alas, his life was at an end.
I buried him then in a hole in the ground
And wrote on his tombstone without a sound.
” Here lies the last dragon of all
He may have been small but his wisdom was tall.”
Dragons were real and alive once upon a time.
Now I’m done, at the end of my rhyme.
Just remember my story and keep it alive
So thoughts of dragons will survive.
