Stupid crossroads; can't have it all!

O hail, O hail, ironic life!

And love not long forgotten,

Slit my palm to clear the splice!

My empathy is rotten.

 

Fin’lly a care walk ’cross my sight,

Damned life pulls me away,

Beckons to leave it for logic alone,

My heart’s the other way.

 

I must survive and live this life,

Through sickness and in health,

Only to die at a very old age,

With piles and piles of wealth.

My life is half across the globe, but at

My destiny I’m standin’

Before me are so many paths!

Which shall I try my hand in?

 

I’ve lived alone for many years!

Been taking these things solo,

I’d like to chase off all my fears!

But stupid, is it? YOLO.

Hah, I think this happens to way too many people. Two desirable paths, one for the mind and one for the heart. Which shall you choose? YOLO, so stupid.

Haha, thanks. So what it's about is how sometimes in life you'll come upon different crossroads. Each crossroad will lead in a different direction. As you keep walking those crossroads, what about the other opportunities you're passing up? You can't get them, at least not how you would have gotten them if you had chosen the other path.

This is where YOLO comes in - you only live once. Take opportunities as they come, they say. But with every opportunity is an opportunity cost! If we could live more than once on the same path, then we could see the other side of the crossroad. YOLO is quite limited.

Haha, this is great! I love the way you build up the struggle of life and then just; "YOLO"!
It's sudden but fitting. And probably quite accurate for a great number of peoples' lives.

Thank you! Ah, how I wish I had more than one lifetimes. Maybe not in a row, but simultaneously, separate timelines in one time period. Then, maybe, when big fate-changing decisions come I'd have the chance to do it all. Unfortunately, YOLO!
