Living Forever

Living Forever

A Poem by Asilem
"

How would it be?

"

Being able to live forever sounds great

Your time to do anything is unlimited

You’ll never have to pass through heaven’s Pearly Gates.

You look ahead into the future before you, high-spirited.

Staying grounded to Earth’s green pastures

Unable to move on, always in the same place

Dabbing away from your eyes, moisture

Before it runs down your pale face

When you are surrounded by strangers

After all the ones you love have died, moved on

Your heart and soul are endangered

After the new people you meet die, their spirits move into the dawn

You wish to go with them, but your time has already passed

Your body may live forever, but your heart and soul will never last

Beautiful poem you got here. It named one of humanity's greatest wants and threw a sad twist on it. I particularly liked the last line, it brought the whole poem together.
