No Matter What They Say

No Matter What They Say

A Poem by Asilem
"

a poem about my boyfriend

"

You and I

We are a pair.

You live in Egypt

I live in America.

You're muslem

I'm pagan.

You're twenty-six

I'm fourteen.

You don't eat bacon

And I crave it.

You don't believe in gay marriage

And I'm all for it.

We have our differences

And yet we still love

With a passion

That would make even Shakespear blush.

I'm scared of the future

And what it holds for us.

I don't want anyone

To tell me not to be with you.

I love you so much.

I always will.

No matter what they say.

Ok, first off let me say the old cliche line, Be careful online and you are never sure that a person is being honest about who they are. I am guessing this is an internet based relationship.......

Unfortunately there is an age restriction on love, I think it is justifiable in many circumstance but here are many mature young adults who feel older than the government give them the ability to be. I urge you to constantly check your emotions are genuine and not just the result of being told the things you want to hear. The opportunity of loving and being loved is sometimes far more powerful than the actual emotions we feel for the person involved. This is because we want to be wanted, its so powerful to be needed. Love is a wild animal that society has tried to tame and in doing so has ruined the concept. In truth there are no rules, no restriction and no limits. I am straight but would hope that if I fell in love with a soul that happened to be in a male body I would not reject instantly the possibility.

Love can not be controlled but that does not stop us trying. We change little things about ourselves to keep the other person happy. Then over time we have changed so much that neither person is the one they fell in love with and so the relationship breaks down. Worse though is that you have changed your self so much you can no longer stand alone. This is not love, this is a deed of ownership and relationship of obligation. True love will let you be you in ever second and encourage every change you desire regardless of fear of loss. True love will work its self, not be worked by the occupants. You are still young and have so much time. My biggest lesson in love is that it has no time limit and can not be rushed. Take you time and use your mind in coordination with your heart and soul.

There is plenty of emotion and contemplation in this write, well done

No perfect person. Just the emotion of love and hope is all we have. I like the honest feel in the words in the poem. Love is real when we accept what is different or what is the same. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
