Graduate of the Past

Graduate of the Past

A Poem by Aswin Suresh Nair

I am alone, that I can bet,

I have got a past, I just cannot forget.

Dipping down the alley,

Through my own special valley,

I have been taught all teaching,

About my life and it’s leaching;

I am a graduate of the past,

Not the first or the last.

I had feelings yesterday,

But I have count to nil today.

I have no emotions left,

Gone as myself, my personal theft;

I am survived by nothing,

Neither a spirit nor any Earthling,

Got a life ahead, a life to tweak,

A life until I fall weak.

I shall descend in a pool of scarlet,

But alas! I am a willing varlet.

Let me loose dear core.

I cannot be contained anymore.

Let me out to tally the hearts I tore.
