Dreams

Dreams

A Poem by Allyson N. Jason

I thought that my time had come
but I was caught in some dream
that resisted
Dreams are like deep wells that call your name
forever you fall and no ground you ever claim
They tickle your ears until they bleed
pleasure you want
love you need
The skies fall and whisper to you that
nothing is really that amazingly new
Dreams are old memories
that soak up your uncovered lies
fill you with false hope
and scented cries
It is time to awaken to the sun that shines my way
It's been calling me so day after day
I just wanted to dream
so I never replied to their calls
so night began to encompass me
and I soon got used to dark walls
I felt a soothing comfort
and black shades filled my mind
I remained asleep
and then had nightmares of my kind
I dreamed that we would die
and watch ground erupt
and the sun would come and be fiercely abrupt
well......

the sun did come
and it burned our eyes
our tears were dried out
and we no longer had cries
we had moans that manifested misery
and we had pain that possessed no wizardry
So I decided that I would no longer dream
just close my eyes and let time just seem
seem like breath that you needed to survive
but also something you could easily cut off
and not be alive
