Skipped Beats and Melodies

Skipped Beats and Melodies

A Poem by NATO KRYVAVRY

05282018

Long after I think I'd forgotten the person or why,
I am sure that I quite loved her
Or that there was such person who had fully owned this heart;
Someone I'd have willingly spent all my strength pursuing

Does distance always abate feeling; or is it simply all gone?

Not quite so.

Heaven knows it is never all gone, not when it is not a lie

But as a bird that flies off after it sings;
As a bee that dies as soon as it stings,
I remember love had fled me loving

As the gush of tears fell from my eyes
I have felt the water levels rise,
and fill what is now a basin, of a silent water that runs deep

She remains a mythical creature that I know is always there;
She remains more mine than I had ever been hers, not because
she was, but because she wasn't

But the question that remains is why I cling to these memories still.

She belongs to a time I abhor to return to,
Save for the smile I knew was hers

She belongs to a time that was not mine
But is in my heart and memory

Nor do I know where she now belongs,
For my mind has not that capacity

Still her song shall remain the melody

Of the beat my heart has skipped

Melancholy call to another heart,
Time tells of such things, Time tells...
