The girl I want to be

The girl I want to be

A Poem by Athena
"

This is silly but I'm in love with a boy and I thought we had a true connection but It wasn't me who he wanted to be with so... I just wrote a short poem to let out these feelings.

"
Your unreadable smile
used to put me in denial

But your hidden glances
made me recount my chances

And those little advances
Had me believe in future romances

But now,

When I look at you look at me
it reminds me of the girl I want to be

And with her looks so sweet
why should I even try to compete

And you will never have a clue
of just how much I love you

I can really relate to this. Honestly, I think this is something everyone goes through, but even when we know this, we still allow ourselves to be put into this painful situation. It was a very fluid poem to read, I enjoyed reading it. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.

This poem is so powerful and touching. I loved it! Almost every woman/ girl can put herself in the speaker's shoes.

Sad and sweet, this speaks volumes about the intensity of puppy love characteristic of teenhood and youth. Your poem stands out as a genuine, unpretentious and an honest write. Someday, when you will have greater clarity of things, you will be able to laugh at this limerence.

Take heart.
Best,
M.
