Nova

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

Nova: A star that suddenly becomes thousands of times brighter and then gradually fades to its original intensity.

"
Cold, hard dust
Trampeled beneath
The pounding of boots

Twisted girders left to rust
As toxic dust flooded the streets
Men marching past a parade of salutes

The biting sand is singing deathless words
Miles away, out there in the brutal sun
Caught between crossfire of guns and tanks

Media-blitz caused the lines to be blurred
Right or wrong doesn't matter down the barrel of a gun
Or how many more swell the ranks

From its slumber was it thawed
Clawing it's way out of the debris
Can't you see, you've stirred the beast?

You're bringing down the hammer of God
And now there's hardly anything left to see
How much longer must this persist, before we can finally see peace?
