Memories of a wishful mind

Memories of a wishful mind

A Poem by Atosa

Oh, sweet childhood memory of mine

Endless sunshine and peals of laughter

I held you in my hand like a child

Holds a newly hatched chick

Cherished you like the air I breathe

Held you close when in need

Now the old photo album is found

After years the truth came out

Oh, sweet childhood memory of mine

You were created by a wishful mind

Oh sweet childhood memory of mine

You were such a beautiful lie

I know saying, "I like this" is so dull and cliche', but I like the words you have chosen here, the way they flow together, and the story itself. I think I "get it"; not sure, since poetry is a game of interpretation. The last lines linger and leave a story that I long to finish knowing. Overall, well done.

I love the feeling

Beautiful poem; childhood memories are always an interesting thing to pick apart - could they be memories of true experience or simply the power of suggestion? I really enjoy this piece as you capture the beauty of the human mind through words.
