When a love can never be....

I see you

Beautiful in blue

You put the sky to shame

 

The wind whispers

Upon your presence

Tousling auburn locks

That it can’t help but touch

 

Your heart

Brighter than the sun

Warmer than any untamed fire

Could thaw through

The iciest soul

 

If only we could be

I would whisper in your ear

Tell you everyday

Of your beauty

That has me speechless

 

But…..

I am not as charming as the wind

I am merely the snow

And spring is approaching

The sight of you

Makes me turn to slush

Fall weak at the knees

Leaving branches bare

A chill lingering still in the air

 

 

If only

I didn’t melt against your touch

And I could linger on your lips

All year round

If only

You weren’t my weakness

 

If only……

It's tough to stand tall when one is melting; makes me think of a snowman in the Spring sun. Yet this poem says so much about the longing in one's heart that my snowman analogy just doesn't cut it. Nicely written... Thanks.
