Like This, Like That

Like This, Like That

A Poem by Authoress
"

There are more similarities we don't see than there are ones we do.

"

We give impermanent things
To impermanent people,
Like flowers,

And we give permanent things
To permanent people,
Like rocks,

But rocks can be broken
By things we create,
Like machines,

And machines are controlled
By people who are also
Like machines.

But the truth is that no people
Are ever permanent; just
Like everything else,

They wilt and die.
But we don’t ever uproot them
Like flowers

And give them to other people
That we don’t love
Like we should

Just to watch them wither
And toss them aside
Like garbage -

No, no, wait… yes, we do.

We give impermanent people
To other impermanent people,
Like flowers,

And we give flowers
To people
Like machines.
