November

November

A Poem by Authoress
"

You said you had to "find yourself".

"
where were you in May,
when i was left alone to kneel and pray
to a god i've never seen
and the singsong taunts of hotel keys

where were you in June
when i was overwhelmed with highway dunes
and city marks on coats;
smells of aftershave and music notes

where was your July
padded rooms and handcuffs giving cry
along the road you drove
to saltwater and European soave

August left you lost
wand'ring toes on incremental cost
and cracking little hints
at the slightest sight of care and gray reprints

September;
the ember -
October;
the gone -
i stopped counting months
when you swam in the dawn

of November

traveling through months of bitter awareness...all the times he wasn't there for her...and the consequences in how she handled her life...what she did to make up for his absence...

i like where you ended it...November is such an in-between month...
there was an old Redford/Dunaway movie...Three Days of the Condor..

she always took photographs of November...that stark month, colorless, in -between...and it paralleled their relationship---was an in-between for both of them..

i write a lot in November..

i appreciate your gift of writing immensely...your work inspires me...with its beautiful abstract quality.
