The Color of Love

The Color of Love

A Poem by Autumn Dawn Ridge

What is the color of love?

Is it crimson like a rose

Or, white like the winged dove

Does it glitter like gold

The color wondrous to behold

Perhaps, a color yet to be told----

What is the color of my love?

What is the color of my soul?

When our hands meet and hold

I can see ripples through time

Poetry, prose and rhyme

Oceans vast and waters deep

Through cracks time seeps

Waves part, but you’re still mine

What is the color of love?

Is it deep like the amethyst sea

Or, blue like the heavens above

Sapphire, azure and teal

These are the colors that I feel

Are they just variations on a theme?

Why not the hues of passion's dream

In vivid plums, fuchsia and aubergines

Do you still question my love is true?

Clearly you can see this is no clever ruse

In emerald greens and turquoise blues

A lovelier shade that removes all doubt

Is surely in bright and bold chartreuse

It’s a color that nobody knows

Some say it’s the color of prose

When two lover’s hands do hold

A color that never grows old---

One that never falls out of vogue

That is the color of my love

The color of love's a very profound-ed & wondrous title itself that has some unique ways to impact the hearts. Liked the way you ended this magnificent poetry with such below lines:

A color that never grows old---
That is the color of my love

Very evocative you're 'bout love-thoughts. Kinda impressive & breathtaking. Ye - the love ain't grow cause, it'd... it'd have already left off this worldly war. Many things you've spoken & disclosed by means to such a beautiful thought provoking poetry. Am kinda beloved with your deepen words especially with the title you've encircled the whole poetic anthem with. Beautifully gorgeous.

This is gorgeous. Such softly spoken words, begging a question that isn't thought of enough. Now that I do, I think of it as pale blue, maybe because I always picture love and happiness with a clear blue sky. I am now wondering why I hadn't thought of this before and am just a little jealous :-)
Beautifully written. I especially like the ending, not to take anything away from the rest. Thank you so much for sharing this. Lovely.
