"Approach My Phantom Doors With Caution"

"Approach My Phantom Doors With Caution"

A Poem by Avery James
"

Twin poems written in emotionally different versions. Based off of a specific poem from another writer.

"

Thirtieth:

I lay alone on the couch cuz

you’ve yet to have woken

And these secrets we keep cuz

Our truth’s never spoken.

When I crumble from pressure

in a heap at your feet

Do me a favor once, please.

Slit my wrists

And watch them bleed.

I’ve bent over backwards for you

Cracked the nicks of my spine.

Studied your writing

To copy these rhymes.

I read the work

And read the author

But honestly dear you’re best at night.

When you’re alone and I’m gone

Remember me

And know one thing

I’m not okay and I’m not all right.

Second:

I write my first words of joy cuz

Finally your eyes have opened

With a whisper to my ear

The truth’s finally spoken

When I fall to my knees from pleasure

In a heap at your feet

Return the favor once, please.

Trace my face

Just when I need.

You’ve thrown away your pride for me

Bowed your stiff spine

You’ve proved enough

To revise these rhymes.

I’ve read the work

And read the author

Take me there, morning day or night.

Don’t worry dear

Just hold me close

I’m in love and I’m doing all right.

this has a great way with depth and feature that brings the ideas to life within a greying shade of desire
