DIAPHANOUS

DIAPHANOUS

A Poem by Ani Ashford
"

Love poem/ musing

"

Diaphanous is love,

hanging like silky gossamer

threads of the spider

gleaming in the morning sunlight.

Each tenuous strand

hangs quivering,

suspended between earth and heaven.

Sticky trap; strong enough.

You just described love in a way no one ever has before. It's accurate, passionate, poetic and forceful. Blunt in a tender way it that makes sense...I love it. I love the title, too!

Your metaphor is flawless, beautiful, and fitting for the subject of this wonderfully crafted poem. I love the way you decribe the strands as tenuous and quivering, but strong enough. Well done.

Silky gossamer threads. I love that. Someone once wrote of me wearing a pale gossamer gown whilst trudging through snows searching for a lilac rose. Ever since I've felt a certain thing for the fragility of the term gossamer.
Such a love you describe sounds like one of those antique yule tree bubbles that comes out each year with the expectant fear that it may shatter yet the jubilation in its tenuous placement upon high bough and revered for its memories. A sad love really one that holds fond memories but that must be held with such delicacy. Bittersweet.

The glittering beauty of a spider's web...so delicate, so fragile, yet so fatal. I LOVE the metaphor in this piece. Just lovely.

I can see the spider winking all of her eyes just under a leaf, watching, waiting for a hapless fly to get attached to her silky charms. hehehe ;P

Truly love is a diaphanous mesh, so luminous and alluring and easily entraps our soul and yet so elusive and flimsy.Lovely write.

I love this, comparing love to cobwebs. Very clever. Beautifully penned. Great job.
