Painted Picture

Painted Picture

A Poem by Brette Medb

I've been here before but I couldn't tell you when

Only that I recognize this place and all that I've ever been;

A lost and lonely child,  now a woman but still

Confounded and confused in this storm I've created.

I find myself submerged screaming into nothingness

Digging slowly my own grave in this bleak existence.

Nothing is lost, merely misplaced in the terror of failure.

Pray for me to find my path, find my way,

I've let myself forget how to survive and breath above the sea,

I've forget to let myself be warm in your embrace,

It comes now into the light, not that of the day

But of your eyes in its sweet surrender

And I understand that I've forgotten nothing.

I've just misplaced everything in the minutes and hours of your absence

As it all unfolds in front of me, nothing more than a painted picture.

The poem is very good. We seem to fall on the same road. Hard to figure which way to go. I like the poem. The inner story to understand life ways and movement. The ending was very good. A question always leave room for thought.

I can see, hear, and feel the slow but constant unraveling as a result a long separation from your beloved. Really good stuff. Keep it up!

You seem to reach deep inside yourself with this piece, flowing here with memory and emotion. This flows with such a strong desire for understanding and strength...

A daring look at the ugliness of absence. Sometimes it's easier to keep moving, stay busy, and never think about it all. You've not only thought about it but penned some meaningful words as well.

Very nice work.

I've let myself forget how to survive and breath above the sea,
I've forget to let myself be warm in your embrace,
It comes now into the light, not that of the day

it is easy on occasion to take for granite what we have and not appreciate it and only takes one moment to remember... another great piece of emotional artwork.

I see an outreached hand longing to be held, protected from the fears of life...Excellent write.

This is sad and sweet Brette.
I know this feeling very well.
Keep those pictures close by and one day soon you'll have the real thing there instead of the painting.

I really liked this!
