The Famous Figure of Cyprus

The Famous Figure of Cyprus

A Poem by Bhumika Devkota

Shall I compare thee to a rainy autumn day,

since your steps are as light as the rains'

and your personality is as colorful as the rainbows created by the goddess Iris?

Shall I compare thee to a winter's day,

where your eyes lights up like the holiday lights,

and you become delicate as a snow flake while Persephone is locked away?

Shall I compare thee to a spring's day,

since your smell makes me nauseous and wonder if

something so perfect could ever be real.

But that's okay my dear.

I have full faith that you will come to life one day,

and don't worry, I will always wait.
