RESTORED

A Poem by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu
"

Redemption

"
Wait!
Don’t nail my coffin just yet!
It’s not your place to do that.
I know what it looks like to you...
You sense a landslide victory on your end.
Don’t hold your breathe because at this very moment.
...I am about to start a victory dance

What has changed ? you mumble.
Are you crazy? Don’t you know when to give up?
Well, who made you master over my affairs?
What makes you think, that your wicked and endless schemes would be the death of me?

I got permanent reprieve
Are you still in doubt?
You’re welcome to keep trying to drown me.
That ship just sailed.

I find this very Plath-like
kind of a Lady Lazarus ....back from the dead with nine lives...
her heart can be wounded a thousand times...but will not die, and she will not lose sense of self.
You poems make me ponder many things...I like the avenues you open up with your words.

There's mystery here, hints of happenings past within each phrase: forgiveness perhaps denied for deeply felt sadness, doubt et al. ' What has changed ? you mumble. ~ Are you crazy? Don’t you know when to give up? ~ Well, who made you master over my affairs?' Even at the finish, who's to know what..

Thank you for the review emmajoy.
I enjoy a twist from time to time
I really like how you introduce your poems. It's always so inviting no matter the genre you theme. Strong beginnings are just the beginning of your art, you capture the reader's mind throughout all the way to the end.

"Never stop fighting till the fight is done" - Eliot Ness, he would have loved this poem of yours! tyfs
