Veritas Sempre

Veritas Sempre

A Poem by J. B.

the truth
 a shot of whiskey you've already taken, knowing how strong it was;

we have the choice to swallow it whole and accept it for the reality that it is,

or spit it out and ignore the fact we ever knew the taste of it.

but, much like pride
the truth has always been hard to swallow

next round is on me

My favourite so far. A good shot of something cold and hard!

Indeed, both pride and drunks go before a fall. Well said.

Brevity which packs quite a punch. The truth hurts, but sometimes it just needs to be said.

Chris.

I really enjoy this. It's short and simple, but it has a punch to it about the danger of unwanted truths. They hurt and burn on their way down, and many would prefer to ignore the painful truths than experience what it can do to someone.
