drink deep

drink deep

A Poem by J. B.
"

this is the chorus of another song of mine called "Footprints" which is out on some platforms. If you're interested to hear it, feel free to ask me for the links. :)

"
we all get back to the Earth
for the sleepin'

or tossed where er' the winds blow.

so, be sure to drink deep from the waters
and leave footprints wherever you go.

be sure to drink, deep, from the waters

and leave footprints, wherever you go.

This work might be called an adjuration, an urging to live to the fullest. The first three lines remind us that life is short and its end certain. They also remind us that our days here can be filled with uncertainty. Our only recourse, says the poet, is to experience life as fully as possible and affect it as profoundly as we can. As one who has drunk deeply (but said drink was not always water), I must agree.

Live life to the full, leave an impression. We don't know how long we've got. Quite relevant in the current climate. I can imagine these lies being sung as a song chorus. Nicely conveyed.
