Morning Person

Mornings are, if nothing else, very interesting.

I am a morning person,

though I often sleep 'till noon.

I like to sit outside with coffee,

enjoying the cool air of early June,

and I like to hear the birds sing,

watch the sun obscure the moon...

yes, I am a morning person,

though I often sleep 'till noon.

Author's Note

I woke up much earlier than I usually do, and this poem came to me while I was enjoying the sunshine and the sound of the world waking up. It is very rough, and I'm sure I won't be as pleased with it in twenty-four hours as I am now, but I am rather fond of it. As always, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Well I am fond of this litte poem as well. I find there is great delight to be found in the ordinary and everyday. I also find simplicity in writing often works best for these subjects. Both are incorporated beautifully, along with a wonderful playfulness that making it just charming and enjoyable to read. Oh, I almost forgot, it also has a nice little rhythm to it, kinda catchy.

I love it! There's a real sense of fun here, plus most of the metre is fine, swings the poem along beginning to end then end to beginning again!

You might not want to be a best seller etc., but you so easily could be!

Great piece, it brings up the idea that saying and doing are two different things, though we often mix them up. It rhymed very nicely, and though it was brief, your point was made effectively.

Hmmm...I liked it. I agree completly with you, i am the same way. I like sleeping in till noon, but when I acutelly get up early it's worth it. It almost reminds my of a little chant or song, not a bad thing. All in all, a good little poem!

I'm a niteowl but on those rare occasions I arrive before the dawn, I've always felt it was a magical time. Your poem makes me smile. Now, I can call myself a morning person, although noon is much more my speed. :-D
