Girls like us...

Girls like us...

A Poem by Barbara A
"

What it is to be a young, sensitive woman.

"
Girls like us seek the long path,
one that is measured in glances and small entwinings of heart and soul,
sinking deep and seeing far,
from cosy firelit nook and top of mountain or wave.
Girls like us already know;
we grieve our sadnesses from within the depth of present joy.
Our tears come in waterfalls that ebb and flow with hope and knowledge, joy and disappointment.
Girls like us wither in well-meaning golden cages and flourish in barren wastelands.
We are invisible in the sunlight of everyday living,
yet become seers and indelible spirits by moonlight.
Girls like us lend you our time and cushion you with our hearts;
few venture to the twilight glade, to witness our glory, bathed in moonlight,
or truly know the invisible heart of Girls Like Us.
