A Privilege of Age

A Privilege of Age

A Poem by Barry!

O, I can see all the precious young things,

(How should I not?  Too pretty to avoid!)

And all the bad thoughts these pretties do bring

Might make stable, married men paranoid.

The Britneys and Hillarys and Lindseys,

Paraded, splayed and marketed so wide,

Wear a lustre of youth as ’twer disease,

With nothing but shame left for them to hide!

Their counterpart males - all vapid and bulged -

  With arrogance that pales Prometheus

Pretty in their way but too much indulged,

And often less friendly than Cerberus.

While the blood still rises to calls of youth

‘Tis happier still, old loves and long tooth.

i know nothing about the specifics of sonnet, i can say you've captured passion in its rolling form
and, the entire ode speaks to the masses in way of testimonial insight, as sharing your point of
view in poetic form, its very well written and really takes the reader for a spin, the clarity allows
one to see exactly what you intend, in metaphoric perception of hollywood warning,
wise poem, tabloid punctuated, captures the readers attention, in pondering light of the meaning

Frankly I don't think you need any. You indeed brought a smile to this old face!
