TRAPPED SOUL

TRAPPED SOUL

A Poem by Bear

Just a child that life has treated so unfair
Seemingly to the world without a care
But the truth lies behind the expressive eyes
They reveal the trapped soul's unheard cries
A prisoner of mind disjointed from body
Unable to express fascination or fear
Consumed with thoughts the world will never hear
Driven on by an unmeasurable passion
To find understanding that appears in short ration
Each day's challenge a seemingly impossible task
With emotions shrouded behind an uncooperative mask
But the eyes seem to say it all
The only way out of this impenetrable mental wall
They speak of understanding compassion and need
And prayers for direction the answers might lead
A prisoner in a world unto themselves
Forgiven or forgotten a responsibility of us all
To break the barrier and bring down the mental wall

Such a touching write......one I can relate to thinking about and wondering. I worked at a summer camp for the mentally handicapped for several years. It's funny, because it's not exactly what alot of people would expect. They are just as human as you and I. They laugh and tell jokes. They bug and poke fun at each other. In many regards, they were pretty normal.

Really. A person would never know what runs through a little child's mind. Truly expressive. I liked it!

I think the photo may have had something to do with it but i found myself unusually touched by your poem. As a poem it is very well written and conveys the anguish for the baby's future.
Very well done.
