Dungeon

Dungeon

A Poem by Beautifulmaddness

I know I’m wrong but I’m not sure what’s right

I’m groping in darkness, trying to fight

Don’t know the end to the path I lead

Can’t find the key to be freed

Rattle my chains scream in air

Why am I here? Why should I care

Scratch the bricks; dungeon walls

How much does it take to make them fall

Blood dripping from my eyes

Life’s abundance away I cry

Let me out; let me be free

I never understood the decree

Where do I go; what should I do

No don’t answer; I can’t trust you

I fall off the cliff; nearing the ground

Alone am I lost in sound

Lacking wisdom I must find

My way in a life so unkind

The trees bend and mock me with their jeers

The fire reaches and burns me; how it sears

I run through the valley on the sun

My expense all others fun

All grab and attempt to sway

But in the darkness I will stay
