Deceiving Eyes

Abstract thoughts.

Blinking once, it doesn’t help.

Clouding his mind.

Disillusioned for a spell.

Everyone’s laughing.

Frightened child begging for aid.

Give it time.

Hope has wings to carry you.

Inside his eyes.

Jumbled words collide.

Knowledge you’ll find.

Losing faith is easy but rubbish.

Motivated by teachers.

Never losing courage, he’s

one of a kind.

Porcelain voices, ignore their sounds.

Quickly judging.

Rambunctious tease.

Stepping side by side.

Tantalizing his needs.

Using a single word.

Victory, he’ll perceive.

Waiting to understand why.

Xenophobic peers.

You’ll see in time.

Zealous, he is, in living this life.

We wrote this poem together. It's an alphabet poem about learning disabilities. We just want you all to know that even if you are just playing around and making fun of someone because they can't read, write, etc. Don't do it. Think about it first. They may not have had the same privileges as you. There may be a reason they are the way they are. By teasing them about it only makes it worse. They have to live with this their entire life, while you only have to sit through it as a passerby for a few minutes. Then you can go on living your life. They can't. It's still with them when they go home from school, when they're hanging with their friends, when they go to bed at night, and it's still there when they wake up in the morning. It doesn't make you "cool" to make fun of them because they're different. In my eyes, being different is "cool" as you so like to put it. Nobody is the same so being different is good. And for those of you that do have a learning disability, always remember "God makes no mistakes" - Lady Gaga. With love, Ali &&Robin
