Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

"Sometimes, The greatest teachers we know are the ones that we do not expect."
~*~*~

Operation fairytale
Destination truth
Looking at everyday things
With the wonders of youth
Gently spoken
Whispers in the night
Letting him know I love him
Everything will be alright
~*~
Stroller ride
Room for two
Exquisite sights fascinate you
Mother blue jay
To the tiniest finch
Never caring
Taking in the beauty of it
~*~
Little butterflies
Tickle your nose
Beneath your fingers
A flower grows
Playing with ants
I’ll never forget
The lessons I’ve taken from it
~*~
Barking dogs
Cars pass by
None of that matters
Nature is worthy of your time
Looking around
Soaking it up
Won’t be long
Until my baby has grown up
~*~
So many lessons
Unfold in front of you
Many directions
For you to choose
Endless battles
Waged within this life
Let me show you
Everything will be alright
~*~
Lullabies linger
Their words will not fade
You are not alone, son
I am here to stay
Life’s greatest lessons
Will soon be in store
How will you face them
When I am no more?
~*~
In minds eye
Garden’s await
Together
We shall run and play
Angelic laughter
Just me and you
Splendors await
In life for you
~*~
Operation fairytale
Destination truth
Looking at everyday things
With the wonders of youth
Gently spoken
Whispers in the night
Letting him know I love him
Everything will be alright

This is very beautiful! I was expecting something about Destination Imagination- the world's largest creative problem solving/improv/teamwork/duct tape galore competition! I participate in that. (My team is going to the international competition at the end of the month)

Anyway, this is such a lovely poem. :) Great job!

This is awesome. I just wrote something earlier today about my baby cousin and his infant innocence. If only we could all still see the world like that....
