Paint Me Color

Paint me color
Hide behind your mask
Earnest longing
You can't change the past

Easy reaction
Words marked with hate
Lonely is this game
We have come to play

Mirrored attraction
Fill us with dread
At the end of the day
We're better off dead

Depression statement
Imprinted in mind's eye
Who are you to judge
Your crimes are far worse than mine

Paint me color
Hide behind your mask
Earnest longing
You can't change the past

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
I may have been selfish. I'm not the only one feeling like the world is out to get me. I'm not the only one who is sad. I'm not the only one struggling. After seeing the picture I used with this poem I was struck, like being slapped in the face. I'm not the only who is hurting. Somewhere in the world, at this very second somebody else is hurting just the same if not worse than I am. It's not right that I sit here and loath around while they fake their smiles and go about their lives as if nothing is wrong. This is for them. Those stronger than me.

Good job, but it is okay to be selfish sometimes.

It's true that you cannot change the past, but you can use the past as a structure to better yourself for the future. The past haunts us, but that doens't mean we can't change in the process. Nice imagery in this poem and it's true that everyone is going through something, no matter how they seem on the outside. No one is to judge you for your wrongs but you.

hmmmm but the true strength is shown through your words , you admit it and understand are attempt to and thats sometimes what the people need to breath to keep going inspire sadness to move on to happiness thats how i live... no matter how much i hurt im healing someone that hurts as much as me or more, and then soon pain will just be a bridge to cross to happiness , the more you do it the more numb the crossing .... and you just keep your mind on making it over ....
