"I'm on the edge of glory, And I'm hanging on a moment of truth" Lady Gaga

~*~

Holding on the the edge
Tamper with the gates
Slowly watch the world around you
As it starts to deflate
Hope holds everything
It's inside you dear
Tonight is the night, baby
I can save you from here
~*~
Slowly the curtains rise
As we take our seats
Life has a show
It would like you to see
Celebrated by you
It passes you by
Everything you have done
Wasn't in strife
~*~
Passing to the other side
A party fit for two
I held you close
And now
I will forever comfort you
No need to worry
About failures long past
Tonight is the night
This maybe our last dance
~*~
Perfect image
We create with life
How will you be saluted
When it is your time to die?
A party is held
Deep within
As your life passes
Showing the good you had within
~*~
Fate is just a thread
So the people say
If only they knew
It played in everyday
Forever is a promise
That i intend to keep
That is something
The fates can't take from me.
~*~
Take control
I refuse to let it be to late
Hang on to nothing
This life is no longer a game
Fight a losing battle
Your heart will show it all
Hang on, baby
Tonight we'll see it all
~*~
Hold on to nothing
As the web we spin
Your hope is a treasure
You will be celebrated at the end
Stand up for what you believe
Even if you know
Don't worry, baby
Tonight you won't stand alone.

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
I was inspired to write this while listening to The Edge Of Glory by Lady Gaga. I sat and listened trying to find meaning and was at a loss, so as I normally do. I did some digging and came upon an interview she had done for fuse. And the meaning of the song became all to clear. I won't tell you in my words. I will tell you in hers.

"One of the songs on the album that is truly one of my favorites, it's called 'Edge of Glory' and it's kind of a sad story. Sorry to be a downer. But my grandpa died about five months ago, and my dad and I were going to say goodbye to him at the hospital, and I got out a big thing of agave tequila and my dad sat next to me at the piano and we started to doing shots back and forth, and I wrote 'Edge of Glory' on the piano and my dad and I cried. The song's about your last moment on Earth, the moment of truth, the edge of glory is that moment right before you leave the Earth."- Lady Gaga

Simply beautiful. I love your writing. It's good that you dug to find out the true meaning of the song, because now many other people know what it's about as well. We live, we die. It's life. And then death. But a great poem never the less.

This is really good, and it's great that you found inspiration from a song. My favorite part was: "Passing to the other side
A party fit for two
I held you close
And now
I will forever comfort you
No need to worry
About failures long past
Tonight is the night
This maybe our last dance"

I love this song, but I never knew why she wrote it. Your poem was amazing, it would make her and her dad proud.
